In the afternoon, they constructed a bridge out of logs and rope for Pioneering Merit Badge. Though it was cold, the Scouts managed to have a productive campout.
September 2009 The Scouts went to Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park for their September campout. The troop took a tour of Mystery Cave, the longest cave in the state. Some Scouts also went geocaching, and several of them also slept in a shelter they made for Wilderness Survival Merit Badge. Many Point 2009 This summer, the troop took its annual trip to Many Point Scout camp. Everyone worked on advancement, and took part in the many things camp has to offer, including climbing, sailing, and shooting. Several Scouts also built a shelter out of natural materials, and slept in it overnight, as a requirement for Wilderness Survival Merit Badge.
May 2009 Campout Everyone had fun on the May campout. The troop traveled to Nerstrand Big Woods State Park in Nerstrand, MN, and participated in geocaching in the morning, and continued to work on Wilderness Survival Merit Badge in the afternoon. Some of the Scouts also enjoyed the many hiking trails in the state park.
April 2009 Campout In April, the troop experienced a fun one night campout at the Bush Lake Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America. The troop enjoyed biking and a five mile hike in the morning and in the afternoon worked on making a fire for Wilderness Survival Merit Badge and had a Court of Honor.
February 2009 Campout Scouts enjoyed a winter adventure at Stearns Scout Camp. We went snowtubing and launched model rockets. We stayed in a heated shelter, although tents are always available for anyone up for a challenge. We cooked all of our meals outside and scouts had to work a little harder to get the stoves up and running in the cold. As usual, everyone had a great time!
October 2008 Campout The October campout was full of fun, teamwork, and great memories at Stearns Scout Camp. We worked on pioneering merit badge which included using a rope machine, planning and building a tower, and practicing knots and lashings. After a tiring day, everyone enjoyed a classic turkey-in-a-can dinner. The turkey was cooked in a garbage can covered with coals and the scouts pitched in to make the rest of the food. Below is a picture of the huge tower we built using lashings.
September 2008 Campout Our annual September campout was at Carver Park Reserve and featured cycling merit badge. We biked along the beautiful LRT trail which passed through Hopkins and by Lake Minnetonka. All of the scouts went at least 10 miles and a few even went 50 miles!
Many Point 2008 In July, we took our annual trip to Many Point Scout Camp for a week. Everyone enjoyed the camping and fun activities. Merit badges were earned in the morning and in the afternoon and evening, we participated in activities including sailing, shooting, cooking, swimming and more.
Dogsledding Campout In January, our scouts went to Duluth, Minnesota to participate in our annual dogsledding campout. The weather was very cold, but many scouts made a snow quinzee and slept outside. On Saturday, Mr. Stetson gave the basics of dogsledding and everyone mushed the dogs for the day. Everyone had a great time and a fun experience! About • Scoutmaster's Bulletin • Links • Calendar • MB Counselors • Events • Documents • Contact |
